When the first image of our Earth
rising above the lunar horizon
was returned, the concept of our
position in space was profoundly
changed. This image was taken by
the Apollo 15 crew in the summer
of 1971. Notice the thin crescent
of the Earth, at this time we
would see the Moon as nearly full.
